Big Red Lips

Big Red Lips and curly black hair adorn this raving beauty in her red dress. This is my day 16 submission for a 30 day art challenge. The theme for the challenge is Red.

While working on this piece I recalled a memory from childhood. It had to do with curly hair.

I must have been about 12. It was the first time I thought about my appearance in any sort of altering it way. We were going on an adventure in a few days, with family and friends, and I wanted to curl my hair.

With my moms curlers, I attached as many as I could to my just washed hair two days prior to our outing. My mom said I might not want to leave them in my hair for two days, but I could not be presuaded to remove them until moments before leaving on our trip.

I expected that the removal of these curlers would render me a diva of great beauty. My friends and family were going to be SO surprised at my transformation! Well they were.
